Why release can't be forced

TRE (tension & trauma releasing exercises) can be a powerful tool, but I believe we need to be careful with it.
Forcing the body into tremors and shaking when it’s not ready can overwhelm rather than heal.
The truth is: the body already knows how to release.
It will do so naturally when there is enough safety, capacity, and connection in place.
Pushing for a tremor before that foundation is there can bypass the deeper layers that actually need tending.
It’s also worth remembering: not all trauma is shock trauma. While tremor release can support certain experiences, many wounds come from emotional neglect, misattunement, or ongoing relational stress. These ask for a different pathway; one of attunement, slower integration, and maybe a verbal release of setting boundaries or standing up for yourself.
Healing isn’t about chasing a dramatic release. It’s about creating the conditions where your system feels safe enough to let go, in its own time 🌀
